the halfway point! |

So we're a little bit past the halfway point(ish), which means we should be at ~18,000 words! How's everyone doing on their goal? Because I'm a freaking maniac, I finished it last night, but will keep tracking my wordcount for the rest of the month out of curiosity. YOU CAN DO IT GUYS
If you're looking for some drabble prompts to help you get that wordcount up, here are a few. There's also prompt tables, like this or this.

I'm not at home, so this graphic is the best I can do for now! Who's tackling rpwrimo this year? I know am, and I'm gonna fire off a couple tags as soon as I finish this post in an attempt to get rolling. :]
The goal is 30,000 words in one month, which means approx. 1000 words per day. For the full rules, check last year's post. WE CAN DO IT, EVERYONE. I'll do a check-in post in a week or two, and anyone feel free to post to this community too if they feel like (with prompts, ideas to get inspired/motivated, thoughts on writing, links to things like Coffitivity, whatever).
Some resources: I use this progress bar and this word count tool. I also highly recommend keeping track in a Google spreadsheet or something, so you don't have to keep manually tallying up the numbers (I did this the first year—MISTAKES WERE MADE).
I think that's all? So, unceremoniously: WE'RE OFF, LADIES & GENTS.

Hello, everyone!
Due to popular demand, this community is back and kicking, serving as the (once again) official RPWriMo community for 2012.
I'm going to c/p these details from my 2009 post:
Obviously, this is our own invention -- an opportunity for writers who WANT to push themselves in a NaNoWriMo fashion, but would prefer to do it in their own way!
Here are the basics:
1. The word count goal for RPWriMo is 30,000 words. This is significantly lower than NaNoWriMo, because RP inherently involves the participation of others. There's a significant amount of waiting for people to tag logs that needs to be taken into consideration. For this reason, we felt that 30,000 words was a much more manageable goal.
2. Anything you write for a character counts toward the 30,000 word goal. This includes (but surely is not limited to): - Logs (The words that YOU write, obviously, and not the entire log) - Narratives - Backdated narratives - News articles, blog postings, etc. - Phone conversations (again, your sections) - Drabbles. These generally involve another person's character, but are often very useful in character development.
3. We are not counting comments or text messages, because, by nature, these things are short and purely conversational. Plus, who really wants to count up every single comment thread that they participate in?
4. Feel free to use this community to share drabble prompts or relay your experiences and ideas! You can also post when you've hit your goal -- and of course, there will be individual banners made for everyone who completes RPWriMo!
5. Please feel free to ask any questions that you might have. This is a work in progress, so we're happy to tweak things as necessary.
6. PROMOTE RPWRIMO! Because RP is collaborative, this will work better if lots of people participate -- more people to log with on a daily basis! Please feel free to post the banner at the top of this post in your own journal, and link back to rpwrimo!

HEY GUYS, IT'S DECEMBER 1ST!
That means that as of midnight last night, the first ever RPWriMo is officially over!
How did you do? Did you make it? Exceed your goal? Let us know!
I'm actually going to create two comment columns -- one for people who finished (with 30,000 words or more completed in November) and one for people who didn't quite make it, but still want to share their progress! This way, it'll be easier for me to see who I need to make graphics for.
Just as a heads up -- I just moved to a new place and don't have Internet at home right now, so you may have to be patient with me for a few days before I can upload the graphics. They are coming, though, rest assured!
Congrats, everyone!

I suppose since its 52 minutes until the 1st we can post about our journeys into RPWRIMO?
Here is mine. I'm a little disappointed I didn't get to the last two narratives, but that's my fault for focusing on other ideas. Here is a breakdown:
RPS: 43,370 Logs/Threads: 38,355 Narratives: 5,016 Etc (apps, ooc/ic logs, memery): 6,827
Total: 50,197.
I will totally do it next year, and now I think I will have a little better plan!

Hey guys!
The first week of rpwrimo is at its end! I thought it would be nice to have a little check-in post, just to see how everyone was doing.
So comment here with your word count so far, and also if you feel comfortable, link to some of the logs/narratives/drabbles you've written this week! ♥
I'd also like to throw out there that it makes me really happy to see how much a lot of people seem to be enjoying the process, and I know that I'm absolutely loving reading all of the things that people have been doing in my games. So anyway, comment away!

RPWriMo: Day 2! |

Hi, writers! Just a reminder that RPWriMo officially kicked off yesterday! Hopefully you guys all got some good logging, narrative writing, or drabbling (whatever, it's a word now) in!
If you're interested in keeping track of your writing in your CDJ on a cute little progress bar, go here to get one! Thanks to fjords for the link.
As a reminder, you should plan on averaging 1,000 words per day in order to hit 30,000 by the end of the month. Obviously on some days you write more and on some you write less, but that's a good goal to keep for yourself. I'll try to update this community with prompts and ideas as the month goes on, and please feel free to do the same!
Have fun!
EDIT: Also, if you happen to write narratives, drabbles, or logs of which you are exceptionally proud, I encourage you to make a post in this community with a link and share it with everyone! Nothing wrong with a little inspiration. :)
